Growing Voices is a EuropaBio initiative aiming to highlight the broad based and growing constituency of interest in genetically modified (GM) crops in Europe.
The GM debate in the European Union has been polarised in the last two decades, providing no middle ground in which the silent majority can form an opinion. Through this website, EuropaBio hopes to change that by offering access to information and fostering the right environment for public discussion. This website will help you discover the complex and fascinating reality of GM crops.
EuropaBio is the European Association for Bioindustries, bringing together bioscience companies from all fields of research and development, testing, manufacturing and distribution of biotechnology products. It has 56 corporate members, 14 associate members and Bio Regions and 19 National Biotechnology Associations- representing some 1800 small and medium sized enterprises across Europe.
The Growing Voices initiative
The goal is to create an experience sharing platform, allowing you to learn from and engage with representatives of the scientific community, consumer organisations, civil society, NGOs, farmers, political institutions, as well as businesses to find out what GM is all about and how we in Europe can move towards a more constructive discussion on this 21st century technology.
Our hope is that this platform will facilitate the exchange of real life of stories about the science of GM plant breeding, the reality of the role GM crops already plays in our lives, and their importance to the future sustainability of global food security and the environment. We also give you the opportunity to satisfy your curiosity about the many urban myths that you’ve heard about this important technique.
